UUID generators now cover v1 through v7

• 2m

The UUID generator lineup now covers every version from v1 through v7. We used to have only v4 and v7 — now v1, v2, v3, v5, and v6 have been added, so every UUID version defined by RFC 9562 can be generated on this site. The existing v4 and v7 generators also got a design and feature refresh along with them. Here’s what’s new:

  • New: UUID v1 Generator — the oldest UUID version, encoding creation time and node information.
  • New: UUID v2 Generator — the DCE security standard’s version, encoding a local identifier and domain.
  • New: UUID v6 Generator — uses the same timestamp as v1 but reorders the fields to be sort-friendly, so plain string sorting reproduces creation order.
  • New: UUID v3 / v5 Generators — not random; computed by hashing a namespace and a name with MD5 (v3) or SHA-1 (v5). The same namespace and name always produce the same value.
  • More format options — pick plain, uppercase, no hyphens, braces, or quoted, ready to paste straight into code.
  • New separator choice — pick newline, comma + newline, comma, or space when copying all values.
  • New: value check — paste a UUID to instantly see if its format is valid and which version it is.
